Risperdal

Risperdal (risperidone) is an anti-psychotic drug that can cause the development of female breasts (gynecomastia) when it is taken by males. The manufacturer of Risperdal also aggressively marketed this drug to children, including young boys.

In January 2012, Johnson & Johnson agreed to pay $158 million to settle a lawsuit filed by the State of Texas alleging that J&J illegally marketed Risperdal to state residents on Medicaid.  In November 2013, J&J paid a $2.2 billion fine to settle a Justice Department investigation into the promotion and marketing of Risperdal. This was one of the largest such fines in American pharmaceutical history. Several cases of males who grew female breasts and took Risperdal have now been tried to a jury. Most of those cases resulted in verdicts for the plaintiffs, ranging from $500,000 to $70 million.

Our firm has been very involved in litigating Risperdal gynecomastia breast growth cases nationally. We stand ready to try the next case to a jury and to investigate your case.  If you or a loved one is a male and has grown breasts while taking the drug Risperdal or risperidone, please call us.
